Grand Theft Auto VI - Everything We Know (May 2026)
Officially Confirmed Information
Development and Reveal
GTA VI is an action-adventure open-world game developed and published by Rockstar Games. Rockstar confirmed in February 2022 that the game was in development, and it was formally revealed in December 2023. Preliminary work started in 2014 after GTA V, while full production began in late 2018 following Red Dead Redemption 2.
Release Date (with delays)
The game has had multiple postponements. On May 2, 2025, Rockstar announced a release date of May 26, 2026. On November 6, 2025, it was delayed again to November 19, 2026, to increase polish. The current official launch date is November 19, 2026, for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
Story and Characters
The story follows Jason and Lucia, a criminal duo trying to survive after a robbery goes wrong. They are pushed into a larger criminal conspiracy across Leonida, forcing them to rely on each other to stay alive.
Map and Setting
GTA VI returns to Vice City, now part of the larger state of Leonida (Rockstar's version of Florida). Confirmed regions include:
- Vice City (Miami-inspired, Art Deco style)
- Leonida Keys (Florida Keys-inspired)
- Grassrivers (Everglades-inspired)
- Port Gellhorn (industrial and port area)
Culture and Satire
The game satirizes 2020s U.S. culture with social media parody, influencer culture, modern policing tactics, and internet references such as Florida Man.
Trailers and Records
The first trailer (December 4, 2023) broke records as the most viewed non-music video on YouTube in its first 12 hours. The second trailer (May 6, 2025) also reached massive view counts in its first 24 hours.
PC and Platforms
There is still no official confirmation for a PC launch version. Take-Two has reiterated Rockstar's historical strategy of prioritizing consoles first.
Speculation and Future Rumors
Price
Pricing is not official yet. Analysts have speculated anywhere from a standard premium price to a possible higher launch price.
PC Release (eventual)
Many players still expect a PC version later, following Rockstar's past release pattern and likely adding technical enhancements.
Third Trailer
With launch approaching, a third trailer is widely expected in summer 2026, potentially near major gaming events, along with pre-order and edition details.
Industry Impact
Forecasts suggest GTA VI could become one of the biggest launches ever, with huge first-year sales and revenue projections.
